This is a newly-formed engineering position for our ISV certification lab within Dell’s Client/IoT Solutions group. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and evaluating software solutions from our ISV partners and assisting in performance benchmarking and certification efforts. Responsibilities include provisioning IoT gateways, embedded PCs, sensors, controllers, servers, networking and storage, application deployment, debugging issues, running benchmark testing. This role will collaborate with colleagues in the ISV certification program, engineering, and marketing to ensure that partner capabilities are well understood so we promote category leaders into customer opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in PC hardware and software, knowledge of industrial control systems and general IoT solution design practices, the acumen to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, be self-motivated and a strong collaborator.

Responsibilities -Set up instances of IoT solutions comprised of Dell hardware and software, ISV applications and sensors -Demonstrate and document key features of ISV software applications to help Dell engineering, marketing and sales to better understand the capabilities of each partner offering -Assist in the benchmarking and certification of ISV software applications -Identify performance optimizations and opportunities for Dell differentiation -Test Dell enhancements to solutions comprised of partner offerings -Assist in Dell’s ongoing contributions to the EdgeX Foundry open source effort, including working with partners on test integrations

Requirements -5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of higher education and work experience -BS in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent -Working knowledge of PC hardware, software and firmware including computer architecture building blocks (processor, graphics, storage, networking, and software) -Experience setting up and troubleshooting computing solutions including loading operating systems, installing drivers, deploying applications,provisioning networking, servers and storage, and performing benchmark testing -Experience working with Linux, including ability to re-build Linux kernels and compile open source code or projects -Experience with general IoT solution design practices

Preferences -Coding experience in at least one of the following programming/scripting languages: e.g. Java, JavaScript, Python, C, C -Ability to understand RESTful design patterns and leveraging APIs to integrate applications -Knowledge of IoT ingredients such as software platforms, 802.15.4 mesh networking, sensor technologies, data transport protocols (e.g. MQTT, HTTPS, CoAP, REST, XMPP, DDS) and/or industrial focused communications protocols (e.g. BacNET, ModBus, OPC- UA) -Experience with Industrial Control Systems
