Dell Program Manager in Reston, Virginia
This position leads one or more programs of related projects in the Product Engineering PMO Group acting as the main point of contact and management of implementations both internally and externally cross the EMC Federation and Key External Partners. As such, the position must interact and coordinate with numerous internal groups, such as Operations, Development and QA, as well as being the primary contact for external customer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage multiple projects and coordinate schedules across other organizational projects.
Identify and manage program communication needs: identify/analyze stakeholders, establish communication touch points, prepare and maintain written weekly status.
Drive project execution through management of project Risks, Issues and Action Items -identify root cause, mitigation strategies, ownership, due dates, and follow though.
Drive project execution through collaborative development & maintenance of project plans
Work collaboratively with product management to clearly identify, communicate, and manage project scope and success criteria.
For billable projects, establish project budget, align with Statements of Work, review with customer teams, and manage using accounting standards and systems.
Identify opportunities and help with improving existing PMO, program and project management processes and/or develop new processes to improve efficiency where needed.
Aid with Product Lifecycle Management process development including deliverables identification/development and management, checklist management, process training and stewardship.
QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS:
10+ Years of Program and Project Management Experience in technical organizations.
Must be able to understand and follow technical discussions at a sufficient level to manage risk, identify issues, build schedules, and identify process or technical gaps. Speak comfortably with technical staff to build work plans, develop estimates.
Advanced execution skills to drive project via plans, risks/issue lists, and follow through.
Ability to work productively in a face paced, challenging environment.
Ability to work independently at a high productivity level.
Excellent (written and spoken) communication skills to communicate clearly across diverse and challenging user groups. Skilled at tailoring communications to audience.
Excellent people and project management skills
Ability to manage uncertainty and set expectations around unknowns with team members, functional managers, executives and customers.
Adaptability and flexibility to manage projects and teams using different SDLC methodologies.
Ability to manage a large team spanning multiple cultures, time zones, organizations and companies.
Ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple internal and external groups to accomplish team goals
Strong collaboration and facilitation skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint and Excel required to develop communications quickly from templates.
Advanced knowledge of Software development lifecycles processes and concepts including both traditional and Agile development methodologies.
Knowledge of Agile development software (e.g. VersionOne, JIRA, or similar) a plus
Experience managing technical projects in areas of virtualization, networking, infrastructure, databases, and security strongly desired.
