POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Cloud Platforms Specialist - Strategically Aligned Business (SAB), is a subject matter expert dedicated to partnering with Dell EMC’s divisional sales, pre-sales, and partners, driving IT and digital business transformation through Dell EMC Hybrid Cloud Platforms. This specialist role focuses on the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud and Native Hybrid Cloud Platforms (EHC and NHC), and the underlying converged/hyper-converged infrastructure. The Cloud Platforms Specialist achieves an expert status in key accounts to assess and create solution demand, partnering with customer business and technical leads as a key member of the Dell EMC account teams. Acting as a consultative technical advisor, they determine business problems, translate challenges into proposed solutions, and collaborate with other pre-sales teams to drive hybrid cloud platforms. The Cloud Platforms Specialist provides expertise in several areas including converged/hyper-converged infrastructure, software defined datacenter, cloud operating models, automation, cloud native applications, and DevOps.

The Cloud Platforms Specialist is a self-motivated learner who is always looking for opportunities to expand their expertise and increase their effectiveness across a broad range of technologies that enable the core missions of Dell EMC and its strategically aligned businesses (SAB’s) VMware and Pivotal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Cloud Platforms Specialist continually engages with the Cloud Business Director sales team and various other sales and pre-sales teams within Dell EMC, VMware and Pivotal to assist and enable them in positioning, architecting, and selling hybrid cloud platforms. The Cloud Platforms Specialist will have broad knowledge of the interaction across Dell EMC’s converged/hyper-converged product portfolio and be the field expert in leading edge technologies. Cloud Platforms Specialists rapidly establish credibility on key opportunities, are a key contributor to the campaign, and the technical owner of the solution. The Cloud Platforms Specialist is also a knowledge enabler within the Dell EMC, VMware, Pivotal, and partner communities. This includes sharing best practices, growing reference account relationships, building and delivering training, and assisting in hands-on activities.

As our Cloud Platforms Specialists are recognized as Subject Matter Experts and interact directly with Dell EMC’s customer base, the Cloud Platforms Specialist is instrumental in participating in many Dell EMC-related distribution groups and social media forums, and is an active participant in partner-related bundling and marketing initiatives.

The Cloud Platforms Specialists also support various marketing programs by building content for, speaking at, and supporting trade shows, field marketing events, Executive Briefing Centers (EBCs), and company sponsored conferences

Critical Hiring Criteria:

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

We seek technical experts with customer-facing experience who have a compelling desire to showcase their expertise by supporting Dell EMC and channel partners’ sales forces, resulting in the deep promotion and demonstration of Dell EMC’s hybrid cloud strategy. Additionally, we seek:

 Five or more years of hands-on, technical experience with VMware

 Experience with Cloud Foundry or other PaaS offerings

 Experience with Cloud automation/orchestration concepts and design

 Experience with DevOps/SDLC

 Experience with Container technologies and open source software

 Experience in a Pre-sales/technical consulting role resulting in continued expansion of virtualization and infrastructure footprint, or cloud native development and architecture

 Experience managing application development or large enterprise service/infrastructure environments is desired

 VMware and/or Pivotal certification is desired

 Dell EMC Certification is desired

 Experience with Dell EMC technologies is a strong additional consideration, but not a pre-requisite

 Active (published online or in print) member of relative communities

 Ability to travel approximately 50% within a defined territory

 Must be a passionate technologist, with exceptional communication skills

 The ideal candidate has a good balance of technical and selling skills, with deep experience in both
