Systems Engineer (SE) – Inside Sales Pre-Sales (Brentford, London)

General Summary:

The Systems Engineer (SE) is part of the EMEA Inside Sales SE Pre-Sales team, and is specifically assigned to provide Pre-Sales technical support to the Inside Sales Enterprise and Commercial teams based in Cork, Paris, Amsterdam, London and Munich. The SE will typically be assigned to a specific Inside Sales team (in this case UK and will be based in Brentford, London) and will be required to provide the support in the appropriate native language (English).

The Inside SE team will work with the Inside Sales Reps (ISR’s) and Sales Associate (SA) teams to help develop the most appropriate technical solutions to meet the customer’s IT needs which typically includes Data Storage, Back Up and Recovery and Cloud Computing technologies. The Inside SE team are part of the EMEA Pre-Sales Organisation whose Pre-Sales mission is: Get the Technical Win.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly engage on customer opportunities to position the technical value of the DELLEMC solution leveraging all the tools and capabilities available

  • Advise Inside Sales Reps (ISR’s) in all technical pre-sales support functions, providing technical advice to ISR’s and aligned focus Partners on best solutions

  • Provide Pre-Sales support to ISR’s on customer conference calls primarily using French language at various stages of the sales cycle

  • Provide demos of DELLEMC products through WebEx and/or similar on-line tools

  • Provide Live Optics Assessments as part of the Sales cycle

  • Develop and Respond to RFP’s as requested from aligned Partners and ISR’s

  • Mentor and assist other SE members in resolving ongoing cases

  • Answer ad-hoc technical questions from ISR’s and aligned focus Partners.

  • Prepare detailed topologies and architectures of customer site, before and after proposed new solutions

  • Deliver technical training to ISR’s as required

  • Provide Competitive Support and effectively deal with Objection Handling situations

Personal Training and Development

  • Work continuously to become a field based SE as per defined skill set over three years’ development

  • Achieve EMC Proven Professional qualifications and maintain them (Associate, Specialist and ideally Expert)

  • Complete Quarterly Sales Accreditation training

  • Attend new product training and deliver training back to group

Skills and Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Technical (or equivalent)

  • 3-5 Years post qualification experience in an IT technical role

  • Typically Pre-Sales, Customer Support, IT Implementation, network or systems administrator or similar

  • Ideally with strong server (Windows, UNIX or Linux)

  • Storage experience (SAN and/or NAS)

  • Backup and Recovery knowledge/experience

  • Information Storage Management (ISM) and EMC Proven Professional Certification an advantage.

  • Knowledge of DELL EMC Products such as Unity, Compellent, VxRail, Recoverpoint, Avamar and Data Domain

  • Virtualization knowledge (VMware and Hyper-V)

  • Customer facing skills

  • Training and Presentation skills

  • Strong communications skills

  • Good organization and time management skills
