Global Configuration Services Sustaining Engineer

The Global Configuration Services (GCS) Sustaining Engineer based in Limerick will work with Global operations, PMs, local and remote engineering resources and customers to identify the root cause of factory distressed orders. The successful candidate will use the root cause information to eliminate repeat issues and participate in CLCA activities and programs to reduce customer impact across the GCS organisation.

The successful candidate will drive Programs as required to support the growth in our business, increased unit volume, expanded Services offerings and additional Fulfilment Sites globally. They will develop a close working relationship with Factory Enablement, Engineering, IT, Process & Tools along with Global Ops and Ops Cell Teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Identify and resolve issues and trends and eliminate repeat issues within the GCS Factory Backlog space and establish key business indices covering Cost, Quality, and Delivery

  • Drive weekly governance, operational engagement, exception management and BPI methodologies within the Services Supply Chain

  • Drive to established goals, core metrics, and key objectives across the metrics suite and working with regional counterparts

  • React proactively to customer and factory impacts, communicate status, trends and process improvements

  • Develop and Drive Programs to reduce GCS Fulfilment Cycletime and Overdues improve Quality and SLA metrics

  • Manage Time Bound Commitments with regards to SLA Jeopardy and Quality Escalations and Manage VP Escalations on GCS Orders to closure providing status update to the Business

  • Represent GCS on Site Core Teams supporting Operations initiatives and provide 3rd level Engineering support to EMFP, CFS and ODM factories for timely resolution of issues within agreed SLA

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills and ability to communicate to Senior Mgt.

  • Ability to work effectively in pressurised situations.

  • Strong Technical and Troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of Dell and BTOA manufacturing process an advantage.

  • Knowledge of Operating Systems Architecture, Desktop/Notebook/Server HW Architecture, scripting associated with service offerings (Python / DOS)

  • A proven knowledge of Enterprise Products, Configuration, Test and Engineering would be a distinct advantage

  • Proven Project management skills / accredited PMI beneficial

  • Must be able to work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
