Sr. Advisor, Network Engineer
Remote – Home Based

As a Sr. Advisor, Network Engineer , your role will be to work collaboratively with Virtustream operations and engineering organizations deploying best practice operational standards, generate documentation and provide escalation support.
Build and deliver client network environments in a fast moving, mission critical Cloud environment
Provide 3rd level support for network environments, Cloud customers & changes.
Design and Document complex multi-site Data Center network architecture
Provision and troubleshoot Carrier circuits, VPN solutions, Layer 2 & Layer 3 services
Deliver internal projects to expected standards and assist with design and architecture as required.
Carry out regular maintenance and support tasks as defined
Contribute to the review, creation and amendment of group policy and procedure documents as directed by the Internal Services Manager
Interact with the members of the other Technical Services teams and Internal Clients as dictated by group policy
Work with external systems providers as directed by group policy and the Internal Services Manager
Essential Job Functions
Design, build & deliver Data Center & Cloud network systems as required to group standards utilising standard build templates.
Provide 2nd level & 3rd level support for Clients and Systems required
Carry out regular maintenance and tuning tasks for all internal systems as described in the group inventory and Service Catalogue.
Auditing of existing network structure
Maintain internal Configuration Item and inventory documentation as approved by the Configuration and Change Manager.
Cary out administration and management tasks
Insure all work completed is documented and signed off by the internal client, and filed in the group portal system.
Produce weekly & monthly systems status report as defined in the group reports list and deliver to the Internal Systems Manager
Complete all work in accordance with the group quality processes and procedures and ISO guidelines
Resolve complex technical issues escalated by other internal departments
Administration and troubleshooting of network and security device issues.
Create, build and amend network & technical documentation
Achieve required levels of operational scalability & performance
Solid product and configuration experience with:
Cisco UCS systems & infrastructure, Cisco Nexus product suite, Cisco routing (ASR, 2900/1800/1900 series), firewalls (ASA and FWSM)
Solid BGP, IBGP & OSPF to design level
Cisco management software – ACS, Cisco Security Manager
Solid and proven Design experience
Experience with large network upgrade projects in mission critical environments
Good communications skills both written and verbal
7+ years experience in network support / design roles, 3 senior level
A current valid CCIE – Candidates without or lapsed will not be considered
Experience in ITIL environments
Shift working patterns & oncall once per month
Any candidates who progress to interview will be required to show evidence of previous design projects including documentation and being able to talk through both the requirements, design goals, design and implementation.
