Responsible for the design and development activities associated with systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and coordinates validation testing on new and modified designs. Develops and/or drives the innovative mechanical design sol unions for desktop, portable and server computer systems and peripherals. Responsible for all mechanical development activities. Uses or directs the use of state-of-the-art CAD and analysis tools to create mechanical designs for mass production. Ensures product features achieve cost, schedule, quality and budgetary goals. Directs support personnel in all mechanical development activities.


  • Advanced mechanical aptitude for interpretation of mechanical drawing specifications

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of manufacturing-driven design issues

  • Advanced ability to read and understand complex drawings as well as 3D databases

  • Advanced understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products and competitor's offerings

  • Advanced ability to analyze options for critical design elements and features, and determines optimum selection

  • Advanced understanding of using CAD and FEA tools

  • Advanced ability to read and understand technical data sheets

  • Advanced ability to read and understand circuit schematics

Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
